This
June Safe-T-Gallery will be welcoming the warm months of summer
with a cooling and refreshing show of water, photography, pottery
and
sound.
Water runs through all the works in the show, whether physically
in the ceramic creations of master-potter Marlies Diels, ‘cymbalically’ in
the sound installation of musical innovator Natacha Diels, or metaphorically
in the multi-layered, aquarium-like compositions of photographer Alastair Finlay.
The water is hot and steamy in the elegant photographs taken in the bath houses
of Hungary and Turkey by Jennette Williams, while the attitude is definitely
cool in Don Burmeister’s photos of everyday objects submerged in glasses
of water. But let’s not forget the beach! Water, sand and jellyfish are
all the materials needed by photographer Alyson Denny to produce her beautiful,
enigmatic abstract color images, while Brooklyn’s own Larry Racioppo gets
himself into deep water as he lures various Coney Island Mermaids into the surf.
In other words, this promises to be one big wet-kiss of a summer show – come
on in!
The exhibit will open on June 4th and run through July 3rd,
with a public reception for the artists on Friday, June 4th from 6 to 8 PM.
Water, courtesy of the New York City Water Board, will be available to every
visitor
at all times, dousings available on request.
