73. AD 1137
   The past concealed or the past revealed? JMC opted for the latter, as this edifice was erected to mark the reconstruction, at JMC's request, of the ancient capital of his country. Although JMC denied any self-reference in this act, some critics speculated that his real purpose in excavating and rebuilding the old structures was to wrap himself in the mantle of lost grandeur and heroism ascribed to the fabled rulers of the past.
